Boom Block Blas
About Boom Block Blas
Okay so I literally just finished playing Boom Block Blas and I can't sleep. Like, my brain is still buzzing with it. Remember how that description said it was 'Craftsman vs Giant TNT' and all that? And 'build fortifications'? Man, that's like describing pizza as 'bread with toppings'. It's technically *there* but it totally misses the point.
It's not about fighting giants, dude. Not really. The giants are just... there. Like, big, dumb obstacles. The game is all about setting up these insane, super satisfying chain reactions. You get these different kinds of blocks – some explode, some bounce, some are super wobbly, some just disappear. And your goal is to make a whole structure collapse in the most epic way possible.
Like, the first time I played, I thought it was just 'click the TNT and watch it blow up.' Boring, right? But then I got to this level called 'Wobble Tower Ridge,' and you had to knock over this huge stack of wobbly blocks, but the TNT was way at the bottom. I tried just bombing the top, nothing. Then I figured out you could place these little 'Sparky Blocks' on the *side* and use a 'Bouncer Block' to send the explosion *down* into the TNT. And when it all went off, man, the way the whole tower just kinda shimmied and then just *imploded* into a million pieces? It was so good. The sound, too! This deep *THWUMP* followed by like, a million little tinkles as all the tiny bits fall.
I swear I looked up and it was like 2 AM. I just kept saying 'one more level.' Because every time you figure out a new way to make something collapse, it's just so rewarding. It's like, way more puzzle-y than I thought. Not 'build fortifications' at all, more like 'how do I make this whole thing go *kaboom* in the most elegant, destructive way possible?'
It reminds me of those old domino rally videos, but if the dominoes were also bombs and bouncy castles. I don't usually even like these kinds of physics games, your know, the ones where you have to be super precise. But this one, it's like, forgiving but still makes you feel super smart when you pull off a 'Mega Cascade' combo. I literally thought about that one 'Crumbly Bridge' level during my lunch break today, trying to figure out how to get all the 'Stone Slabs' to fall at once. Already told Sarah she has to try it, she loves those weird puzzle games.
Honestly, the tutorial was a bit dry, not gonna lie, and the giants just kinda stand there looking dumb, which is a little weird. But once you get past that, and you realize it's all about the *chain reactions* and the *physics*, it's just so much fun. Really, really fun. You gotta play it, dude. It's not what they say it is, it's something way cooler.
