Human Engine Race
About Human Engine Race
Hey, you up? Can't sleep, my brain is still buzzing from that game, Human Engine Race. Remember I told you what that guy said it was about? Like, collecting stickmen to turn into a car and then a helicopter? Dude, that explanation is so wrong it's hilarious. It's like describing a gourmet burger as "just ground beef on bread." Technically true, but completely misses the point.
Honestly, I thought it was gonna be some dumb mobile runner game, but it's actually really, really clever. You *do* collect little stickmen, but your goal isn't to make a car. Your goal is to use your crowd of people *as* the engine. Like, you're the leader, right? And you have this growing swarm of little guys. But the levels aren't just straight lines. There are these crazy obstacles. Like, you'll come to a giant wall, and instead of turning into a car, you have to like, stack your people up, like a human ladder, and then the last guy, that's you, has to kinda leap off the top to get over. It's so weird but it feels so good when you pull it off.
The first time I played it, I was just trying to run past everything, and then I hit a giant gap. I was like, "Oh, I guess I need more people to make a car or something?" But then I saw a little prompt, and it showed me you could like, *split* your crowd. So I sent half my guys to hold down a pressure plate on one side, which opened a door, and the other half I used to push a giant block into the gap to make a bridge. I literally yelled "NO WAY!" out loud. It's not about being a car, it's about being a super flexible, problem-solving human mass. Your people are the engine, the tools, everything.
There's this one level, "The Gear Gauntlet," where you have to like, sacrifice a few guys to jam up a spinning gear so the rest of your crowd can run past without getting squished. And there's this little "splat" sound when they get caught, but it's not sad, it's just like, part of the puzzle. Makes you feel kinda like a mad scientist, your know? I don't usually like puzzle games that much, but this one is so active and fast, it just keeps you hooked. I looked at the clock and it was like, 2 AM, I'd been playing for three hours. You gotta try it, seriously. It's fun. Really, really fun.
